- FOUNDER MEMBERSHIP
Persons
who have actively
participated in the formation of the Union
or who are nominated by the National Trades
Union Congress to assist the Union,
irrespective of whether they are eligible
for ordinary membership or not.
- CADRE MEMBERSHIP
Persons appointed by the
Executive Committee who have
been certified by the Secretary-General of
NTUC to be of service to the Union.
- ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP
Persons who have attained the
age of eighteen years and who are registered
as seamen with the Maritime and Port
Authority of Singapore.
- PARTICIPATING MEMBERSHIP
1. Persons in the service of the Union on a
full-time or part-time basis and shall be a
condition precedent for their continuing
employment with the Union.
2.Persons whose ordinary membership of the Union has ceased by reason of their
having been involuntarily de-registered as seamen with the Maritime and Port
Authority of Singapore from non-disciplinary cause, provided that they apply for
participating membership within six months of cessation of Ordinary membership
unless the Executive Committee may otherwise decides in its absolute discretion
and provided further that if they are not employed as seamen in any manner for
three, or more than three continuous years as the Executive Committee shall
decide from time to time in its absolute discretion, they shall cease to be
entitled to be Participating members.
3.Singapore
citizens and Singapore permanent residents
who are ineligible for the ordinary
membership by reason of their being non-registerable
seamen within the ambit of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Act.
4.Non-Singapore seamen (who are not registered with the Maritime and Port
Authority of Singapore) working on any ship
which is under Collective Agreement with the
Union or whose owner or management
recognises the Union as representing the seamen so long as the seamen are so
working and the Collective Agreement or the recognition as the case may be is in
force.

ASSOCIATESHIP FOR LIFE
Persons who are Ordinary
members (including former members who had
retired prior to the registration of the
amendment) of the Union who have retired as
seamen upon reaching the age of 55 or more
years and who have been members of the Union
in good standing for not less than 12
continuous years up to the date of
retirement, provided that Founder or Cadre
members who are eligible to be Ordinary
members shall be deemed to be Ordinary
members for the purpose of this provision.
