About SPF

SEAFARERS’ PROVIDENT FUND

Seafarers’ Provident Fund (SPF) is a saving scheme for seafarers, established by Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS). The aim is to encourage continuous employment and loyalty of seafarers.

However, it is with much regret to inform all SOS SPF Members that the SPF Scheme has been terminated; collection from SPF participating shipping employers will only be up till 30 June 2012.

A Scheme of Administration was set up to govern the administration and distribution of the SPF.

With this SPF Scheme termination, all payable amount due to individual SOS SPF Member will be disbursed from January 2013 onwards.

WE ARE HEREBY INFORMING ALL SOS SPF MEMBERS TO SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATION FOR WITHDRAWAL.

For application, kindly complete the withdrawal application form (Dec 2012 version) and attach with the following documents:

  1. Completed original withdrawal form with signatures of claimant and witness.
  2. Passport - Current and previous copies showing bio-data and signature pages (if available).
  3. Seamen book - Current and previous copies showing bio-data & sailing period
  4. Birth certificate or equivalent
  5. Any form of photo ID (e.g.: driving license, identification card, residential card, library card, etc)

Kindly note that payment to Singapore-based members will be via cheque.

For payment via telegraphic transfer, please indicate the Bank’s Swift Code.

Do ensure that ALL documents submitted are certified as true copies and the signature of claimant in withdrawal form is witnessed and signed by either one of the following groups of people:

  • Justice of Peace
  • Public Notary
  • Lawyer
  • Document Issuing Authorities
  • SOS/Seacare Regional Offices (If applicable)

Please be informed that we will not accept any application forms and supporting documents via e-withdrawal, email or fax. ALL forms and supporting documents must be submitted by post or in person.

Applications received without the complete set of required documents will be reviewed on a case-to-case basis and at the discretion of the AC.

All applications for SPF withdrawal shall be made by 31st AUGUST 2019. Withdrawal applications received after 31st August 2019 shall not be entertained.
