About SPF

The Seafarers Provident Fund (SPF) is a saving scheme for seafarers, established by SOS. The aim is to encourage continuous employment and loyalty of seafarers.

Seacare Thrift Pte Ltd was incorporated to operate and administer the SPF. An Administrative Committee (AC) comprising of representatives from SOS, shipping companies and other organizations was formed by Seacare Thrift to oversee the administration of this scheme.

How it works?
Contributions to the SPF come from employers or shipping companies covered under the Collective Agreement with SOS.

Contributions are sent to the AC for verification.

NTUC Thrift & Loan Co-operative Ltd will, upon instructions by the AC, open an individual account under the seafarer's name and an account number will be issued. This contribution shall be deposited into the individual seafarers' account. Annual interest will be paid on the payment deposited.

How to track your account?
All seafarers will be given a thrift account number.

An annual statement of account will be sent to all account holders.
